You Have Found Yourself On…
The Outskirts

I have been living in rural New Mexico for the past fifteen years and have come to love the wide open skies of this desert where I can look up amidst dreams and see the longs arms of the Big Dipper overhead. More than anything, I long to live in a wild world - a world where the natural elements and seasons lead the way. As a woman with four planets in Virgo, I am learning to let the earth guide me - which has been a challenge after growing up in downtown Phoenix in the 80’s and 90’s. I have chosen to live my life in a way where I am committed to returning to old traditions that modernity has tried its best to eradicate - from farming, to midwifery, to learning about ancestral foods, to astrology, and finally, to reclaiming my own time and energy to write after giving it away for so many years.

The Content

The Outskirts is an on-going series of essays about the 5-acre farm I operate with my wife in Northern New Mexico. I am in the process of turning these essays into a book that will come out some time in 2027. Stay tuned. You’re along for the ride.
You can check out our farm website, here and start following us on Instagram, here.

Supporting The Outskirts

Everyone gets to read the essays I write for free. I also record audio versions of each essay I write. What I ask for, in return for reading, is that you share my work. Pass this work around. Send it to your friends. Send it to your mother. Send it to your grandmother (my wife’s grandmother reads my essays and I am pretty sure my grandmother reads them from the great beyond). Send it to your neighbor who wants to start a homestead, your dental hygienist, and your queer aunt. Please, share this writing. That will be the biggest gift you can give me.

You are, of course, welcome to become a paid subscriber and support my ongoing work as a writer. You can become a paid subscriber for as little as $5 per month. Paid subscribers get access to my exclusive podcast interviews with other women who are writing, farming, and caring for the wild and natural world.

Consider becoming a paid supported of my work.
